Center for Teen Empowerment
$ 15,000
Support for youth organizing project designed to turn youth
away from gang violence and toward confident involvement
with their communities and schools. Funds would be used to
hire Rochester teens to work as teen empowerment youth organizers under the supervision of staff.
Center for Youth Services $ 5,000
Support for co-dependency counseling services. The goal
of the program is for participants to experience self-sufficiency, and improve quality of life, and a sense of community through the provision of basic life skills training, co-dependency assessment, counseling, and support services.
The Children’s Agenda $ 15,000
Support to improve the well-being of children in the Greater
Rochester area by influencing public policies and practices,
to ensure that systems are responsive to the needs of all
children, by providing legislators and other decision makers
with reliable information to create positive outcomes for children.
Support for Composers – For-Kids, an initiative that brings
professional composers into urban and suburban schools to
work directly with students. TCP composers are commissioned to mentor music students, foster creativity and learning, and engage students in the creation of an original piece of music.
Compeer $ 5,000
Support for mentoring program, Juvenile Substance Use
Intervention Program, for youth that are “dual diagnosed”
as having both mental illness and drug abuse issues.
Youth are referred directly from the Juvenile Drug Treatment Court.
Daystar $ 12,500
Support for program that serves as a foster home for
infants with special needs, who require 24 hour monitoring
with life support machines, feeding tubes and medications
as part of their care.
East House Corporation $ 2,000
Equi Center, Inc. $ 5,000
Support for new agency that would provide therapeutic
horseback riding and equine-facilitated mental health
programs for at-risk youth and individuals with a variety of
disabilities. Pilot phase May – November 2004.
Fredrick Douglass Middle School $ 15,000
Support for Alternative Suspension Program, which seeks to
reduce out-of-school suspensions by having the students
serve their suspension on Saturday from 9:00am to 12:00
noon and Wednesday from 1:45pm to 4:45pm.
Friends of Children and Families in Crisis $ 5,000
Support for adventure based program at St. Joseph’s Villa
for juveniles who are respondents in juvenile drug court of
Monroe County Family Court.

Support for salary for dance school administrator and teaching apprentices.
Genesee Community College Foundation – LIFE

Support for Liberty Partnership program administered by the NY State Dept of Education, which awards grants to
services to students in public and non-public schools who are at-risk.

organization dedicated to job creation in the Rochester

Support to translate web site into Spanish as part of Planned Parenthood’s Hispanic Outreach Initiative.
Rochester City School District – No Child Left Behind $ 5,000
Support for No Child Left Behind program in which parents are expected to be accountable for the academic progress of their children.

Spiritus Christi Mental Health Center $ 7,700
Support for mental health program which serves uninsured,
and under-insured men, women and children.

Support for Water Tower Academy, an alternative educational program for at-risk youth.
Water Education Collaborative of Rochester Museum and Science Center $ 10,000
Support for program, which provides water quality education services to the public within the Genesee River region watersheds. To inspire people to help protect and improve water quality in our river, lakes and streams.

Support for dental equipment for community health center
that serves a very low-income population.
Wilson Alliance $ 25,000
Support for half time staff person to raise funds to support students and academic programs at Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School.

Support for Women Power: Getting Unstuck and Getting Ahead, a pilot project for women currently in transitional housing and for those who have moved on to permanent housing.
